1. Best areas to stay in Venice for couples
Venice can be divided into 5 large districts: San Marco, San Polo, Cannaregio, Santa Croce, Castello and Dorsoduro.
1.1 San Marco: the most visited area of Venice
San Marco is the most visited district of Venice. It is here that you can see the mythical must-sees of Venice such as Saint Mark’s Square and its basilica, the Doge’s Palace or the Bridge of Sighs. If you are going to Venice as a couple, you are sure to visit this district. However, this is not the best place to stay in Venice as a couple, if you want to try to avoid the crowds (especially during the Venice festival).
Hotel Casanova: a pretty 4-star hotel in an 18th century building just 70 meters from Piazza San Marco! The decoration of the rooms recalls the Venice Festival. This is a great place to stay in Venice as a couple, if you appreciate the decoration of the classic and refined style.
Hotel Montecarlo: still in the San Marco district, right in the heart of Venice, 50 meters from Saint Mark’s Square, you can sleep in one of the rooms of this Venetian-style hotel. What better way to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Venice?
Hotel Al Ponte Dei Sospiri: the location of the hotel is just exceptional! You have appreciated the decoration of your suite and the service. The view from some suites directly overlooks the canals of Venice.

Santa Croce is the district where the bus that makes the transfer from Marco Polo airport stops (find out more in our article: How to get to downtown Venice from the airport?). It is therefore a convenient location for arrival in Venice. You can go from the San Croce district in 20-30 minutes to Saint Mark’s Square in Venice.

Venice is an extremely small city: 5km long. Moreover, moving from one end to the other is clearly a lot of fun! If you want to be quieter, do not hesitate to move away from the most touristic center of Venice.
